Park lifeguard Matt Roark was on his stand on July 29th when a three-and-a-half year old boy began struggling in the Bandy Creek campground swimming pool. Roark stood up and saw the boy stop struggling and sink to the bottom of the pool. He began moving toward him and at the same time alerted lifeguard Jacob Miller. Miller, who was much closer than Roark, immediately jumped in and pulled the boy from the bottom of the pool. He did not lose consciousness and ingested only a slight amount of water.
