TheNational Parks: Index 2009-2011 , known more commonly as âthe Red Book,â is now at the printer. Copies should arrive in about a week.
This index is a complete administrative listing of the National Park Systemâs areas and related areas. It is revised biennially to reflect congressional actions. The entries, grouped by state, include administrative addresses and phone numbers, dates of authorization and establishment, boundary change dates, acreages, and brief statements explaining the areasâ national significance. This book is not intended as a guide for park visitors. There is no information regarding campgrounds, trails, visitor services, hours, etc.
Thanks to Dr. Harry Butowsky in WASO Cultural Resources, the index is also available on the web in PDF and HTM formats. The former (first link) is to the HTM version; the latter (second link) is to the PDF version of the 131-page index and at 8.23 MB takes a little while to load.
