On July 7th, the NPS and Student Conservation Association (SCA) signed a new five-year cooperative agreement that will continue their long-standing efforts to provide public service opportunities to youth.
SCA is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1957. This organization is committed to natural resource conservation, historic preservation, and the creation of the next generation of conservation leaders through the establishment of a nationwide force of high school, undergraduate and graduate school volunteers.
SCA engages youth through internships, conservation jobs, and crew experiences, conduct resource management, historic preservation, cultural resources and conservation programs for the purpose of training, career development and education. SCA places volunteers in more than 350 park units and NPS offices each year.
