Start Your Summer with a Bang at Cowpens National Battlefield

Cowpens National Battlefield’s summer schedule is full of free fun for the family.

The reenacting unit of Continental Soldiers, 1st Maryland, Southern Campaign will have a living history encampment on June 6-7. They will only give musket firing demonstrations on Saturday, June 6, but will have a military encampment set up on both days.

On June 20, July 4, August 1, and September 5, reenactors from the SC Rangers will set up a living history encampment and give musket and rifle firing demonstrations. Please check our website two weeks prior to the event for the exact firing times on those days.

On July 3, Cowpens National Battlefield will host Family Fun and Fireworks. The day will begin with guided battlefield walks at 9:30 a.m. The free fireworks display begins at 9:00 p.m.

On the third Sunday of each month through September, Cowpens National Battlefield is also having a Sunday in the Park. From 2:00 – 4:00, a volunteer will be at the Robert Scruggs House to demonstrate and teach quill pen writing and other 18th century skills.

Cowpens National Battlefield is the site of the American victory over the British on January 17, 1781 and is located 10 miles west of Gaffney, SC, and 3 miles east of Chesnee, SC at the intersection of Highways 11, 110, and 221-A.
