The Denver Service Center received a first place award for logo design from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC). The NAGC 2009 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards Competition salutes superior communications efforts of government agencies and the people that create them. Glenda Heronema, lead visual information specialist in the Planning Division, designed the award-winning logo.
The winning logo was created to represent the national âDesigning the Parksâ Conference, sponsored by the National Park Service, University of Virginia, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, George Wright Society, and the Cultural Landscape Foundation. Because the conference consisted of two sessions, each in a different part of the country and at different times of the year, the logo was vital to help tie the conference sessions together.
"Glenda's conference logo and poster is an elegant depiction of the conference theme of learning from the past to define the design principles for the future in regional, state, and national parks," said Rodger Evans, Chief of the Design & Construction Western Division of the Denver Service Center. âItâs very rewarding to see the professional design work from the National Park Service recognized by their peers in the field.â Rodger, along with the other core planners for the Designing the Parks Conference, Shaun Eyring, Chief, Division of Resource Planning and Compliance for the Northeast Region, and Stephanie Toothman, Chief, Cultural Resources for the Pacific West Region, selected the logo to represent the conference.
The National Association of Government Communicators is a national professional network of federal, state and local government employees who disseminate information within and outside government. The NAGC awards program underscores the association's high standards of professionalism in public service.
