The 2009 version of Reference Manual 9 is now available on InsideNPS. RM-9 supplements Directorâs Order 9 in providing policy and direction for the National Park Serviceâs law enforcement program. Click on the link at bottom to obtain a copy.
A parallel document, General Orders, provides a similar function for the US Park Police.
This update marks the culmination of a multi-year project, with input from field rangers and employees at all levels of the agency.
The new version of RM-9 is effective immediately and supersedes pre-existing and interim policies for law enforcement.
Printed versions of RM-9 have been formatted as a book, similar in size to Title 36 CFR, and will be distributed to the field through the regions in June.
The online version is in a versatile PDF format. The document will be subject to ongoing review to ensure it will remain a dynamic tool for managers to support the NPS mission. Notification of updates will be made to the field through the regions. Updated printed versions will be available annually.
