During the week of April 20-25, 2009, Ocmulgee National Monument will enjoy the inconvenience of new exhibit installation. Impact on the visitor experience is great, but for a short time and w
Ocmulgee NM, their staff, Native partners, friends of the park, stewards, and NPS and local experts have been involved in workshops, discussions, contractor meetings, and partner negotiations, all for the purpose of implacing a new exhibit at the park.
The new exhiibit will be installed on the first floor of the visitor center and will replace the former exhibits that were located in the visitor center lobby, halls, alcove, and exhibit museum.
Featured in the new exhibit will be a re-created dwelling and artifacts that have been held and protected by the park. Many of these artifacts have never been seen on display.
The new exhibit is family friendly, includes interactive parts, and will show past and current history of the Muscogean Nation.
Exhibit installation will be complete by June, 2009.
