NPF And Macy’s To Conduct Promotion During National Park Week

National Park News

Building on the 2008 cause-marketing campaign that became the most successful display of citizen giving to the National Park Foundation in a single day, Macy's and the National Park Foundation are again announcing a partnership to raise awareness and generate funds to support our parks.

During National Park Week 2009, Macy’s stores nationwide will launch their second annual "Turn Over a New Leaf" promotion demonstrating their support for the environment and encouraging their customers to do the same.

Macy’s will invite customers to help support America’s national parks with the National Park Foundation by participating in the “One Good Turn” shopping event at Macy’s stores nationwide and online at macys.com on Saturday, April 25th.

By making a $5 contribution to the National Park Foundation, customers receive an all-day shopping pass worth 20% off most storewide and online purchases and $5 off a one-time purchase of $15 or more at any Macy’s store. Some exclusions apply. Donations may be made at Macy’s stores, or give at www.nationalparks.org/give, and receive a printable Macy’s shopping pass instantly.

While at Macy’s, customers may purchase a tote bag to be used over and over again to help conserve our precious resources, with $1 from the sale of each tote at $1.95 donated to the National Park Foundation.

The foundation has developed a “Tell A Friend” opportunity to help spread the word about the “One Good Turn” shopping event at www.nationalparks.org/newleaf.

On Earth Day, April 22nd, the first 150 kids who stop by the children’s department at each Macy’s will receive a free copy of “Kid Power,” a First Bloom-inspired activity book from the National Park Foundation that teaches kids about native plants and how they help the environment. The book includes a special coloring page for children to complete and return to the National Park Foundation for a special “Kid Power” badge while supplies last. This free activity book is also available through the National Park Foundation online.

For more information about the National Park Foundation’s partnership with Macy’s and to download a Kid Power Activity Book, visit www.nationalparks.org/npweek.
