Emergency Medical Services Workshop Held In Texas

The NPS Branch of Emergency Services held an EMS workshop in Dallas on April 3rd. This year's three-day event was attended by 78 NPS and partner staff. Among the major topics addressed during the workshop were the 2009 EMS field manual, centralized EMS credentialing, the implementation of an electronic patient care record, and strategies to enhance program sustainability. 

There were three special presentations held at the event. Dan Manz representing the National Highway Safety Administration delivered an overview of the new EMS scope of practice and EMS core curriculum. Rob Wagoner from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians  spoke on testing and certification requirements for the new categories of providers. And Dr. Sue Briggs provided a summary of the advanced disaster medical provider course.
