The Sixth Annual National Natural Landmarks photo contest is now underway, and you are encouraged to enter and send along a submission.
This year, the number of submissions allowed per photographer has been increased to three. Each entrant may submit up to three photographs to the contest, but each photograph must be from a different NNL site. The contest ends on June 30th, so donât delay.
In addition to the NNL photo contest, photographers can also participate in the National Historic Landmarks contest to be announced at a later date, so watch InsideNPS for that announcement.
The National Natural Landmarks Program, administered by the National Park Service, was established to identify and recognize outstanding examples of our countryâs natural history. It is the only natural areas program of national scope that recognizes the best examples of biological and geological features in both public and private ownership. Site designations are awarded by the Secretary of the Interior following an extensive evaluation process and the landownerâs concurrence. The 586 National Natural Landmarks nationwide possess scientific significance, educational value and exceptional scenic beauty.
