The National Park Service is continuing in its ninth year of supporting International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD).
IMBD, taking place on May 9, 2009, is an international outreach event to celebrate migratory birds and focus attention on their conservation.
The IMBD 2009 theme is âCelebrating Birds in Cultureâ. Migratory birds have long influenced cultures and traditions around the world. The 2009 artwork is by Andy Everson, a member of the Kâomoks and Kwakwakaâwakw First Nations.
IMBD activities can include bird walks, Junior Ranger programs, evening programs, bird counts, displays, bird banding demonstrations, community outreach events, festivals, and school events.
