Fifteen individuals crucial to the success of the National Park Service Structural Fire Management Program were recognized at an awards banquet, held during the Structure Fire Suppression Conference on January 28, 2009. Structure Fire Program Manager, Hal Spencer, presented the awards and shared each recipientâs accomplishments and dedication to the program.
The following individuals were recognized:
Tony Bacon and Ronald Glantz â for being the founding âfathersâ of the NPS Structural Fire Suppression training program and sharing their expertise and dedication to the Service for over 27 years
Mark Gorman, Jeff Panetta, Joe Lachowski, and David Van Inwagen â lead instructors who have shared their enthusiasm, skills, and knowledge of structural fire suppression training with thousands of agency employees, volunteer firefighters, and concession employees
Roberta Gorman, Lance Mattson, and Jim Traub â recognized for their years of support and accomplishments as program assistants for the Structural Fire Management Program and involvement with the educational and training programs
Stan Austin, Superintendent, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area â for his ongoing support in hosting the national structure fire training program and training facility at Glen Canyon
Stephanie Cleary, Christine Wilson, Russel Rivera, Anne Baugh, Jim Gasser, and Sonya Rowe â for assistance with conference planning and logistics, which ensured a successful event
The Structural Fire Management Program continues to be a collaborative effort between collateral duty firefighters, supervisors, and managers. Thanks are extended to all individuals that have contributed to the program in the past and commit to sharing in its future success.
