Special Musical Program at Lincoln Boyhood NM National Park News Thursday, Feb 26, 2009
On Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 2:00pm CDT, a special program will take place in the Abraham Lincoln Hall at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. âMystic Chords of Memory,â presented by the Ravinia Festival of Illinois, is a program of spoken word and music honoring the 16th President that was prepared especially for the Lincoln Bicentennial. The music portion will include works by Brahms and Mendelssohn, contemporaries of Lincoln, which will be performed by the Lincoln Trio. Formed in 2003, the Lincoln Trio brings together experience spanning the globe; each member is an artist of international renown. Violinist DesirÃ©e Ruhstrat has performed throughout the US and Europe, appearing at the White House and performing on live radio broadcast heard around the world with the Berlin Radio Orchestra; cellist David Cunliffe has performed with the BBC and Royal Scottish orchestras as well as touring ad as a member of the Balanescu Quartet; pianist Marta Aznavoorian has appeared with the Chicago Symphony and has performed at the Kennedy Center and the Sydney Opera House.
The program is part of Lincoln Boyhoodâs continuing observance of the Lincoln Bicentennial and is free and open to the public. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is located off of Indiana Highway 162 in Lincoln City, Indiana.
