New Bills Introduced
The following new bills were introduced:
H.R. 790 (Markey, D-MA) - To prohibit issuance of any lease or other authorization by the Federal Government that authorizes exploration, development, or production of oil or natural gas in any marine national monument or national marine sanctuary or in the fishing grounds known as Georges Bank in the waters of the United States.
H.R. 860 (Bordallo, D-GU) â To reauthorize the Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2000.H.R. 863 (Blumenauer, D-OR) - To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow employees to receive transportation fringe benefits for the same month both in the form of transit passes and reimbursement of bicycle commuting expenses.
H.R. 867 (Bright, D-AL) - To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study to assess the suitability and feasibility of designating certain lands as the Chattahoochee Trace National Heritage Corridor.
S. 359 (Inouye, D-HI) - A bill to establish the Hawaii Capital National Heritage Area, and for other purposes.
Upcoming Hearings and Markups
On February 25th, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife will hold a hearing on H.R. 860 (Bordallo), to reauthorize the Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2000. The hearing is scheduled for 2:00 pm in Room 1334 Longworth. The DOI witness has not been determined.
