Presumptive identification made on bodies discovered in Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon National Park

National Park News

Grand Canyon, Ariz. – The two bodies discovered in a residential trailer park within Grand Canyon National Park yesterday have been identified as Laurent “Maverick” Gaudreau, 82, and Shirley Gaudreau, 73, both from Grand Canyon, Ariz.

Park rangers responded early yesterday morning to a 9-1-1 call and found the bodies, a male and female inside their mobile home. Initial investigations indicate the two likely died as a result of a murder/suicide. The bodies were transported late last night to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, located in Flagstaff, Ariz. Presumptive identification was made this morning based on circumstantial evidence, and from marks on scars on the bodies.

An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service with support from the Federal Bureau of Investigations Evidence Response Team.
