Elk Poaching Investigation Underway

The parks received a report of a poached Roosevelt elk near Enderts Beach Road in the Crescent Beach area on the morning of January 14th. Both state and NPS rangers responded and discovered that the female elk had been shot and gutted at the scene, probably between the early evening of January 13th and the early morning hours of the 14th. A reward for information leading to the arrest of the poacher or poachers has been authorized by the California Department of Fish and Game.
