Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro joined Gateway staff members in a recent ceremony to open a new entrance and parking lot at Gatewayâs Miller Field.
A former grass-surface Army airfield, Miller Field is one of the largest sports recreation fields in New York City. Used primarily for organized league activities, the fieldâs soccer, football, baseball and softball fields host thousands of children and adults each year.
The construction provided 500 new and improved parking spaces, and pedestrian and bike access on the field was also upgraded.
Funds for the $3 million project were provided by the Federal Lands Highway Program with support from Congressman Vito Fossella and from the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation through Borough President Molinaro.
