On November 6th, Ronald Bost, Jr., pled guilty to two counts of vandalism and was sentenced to 17 days in jail (time served) and two years of supervised probation, to be followed by three years of unsupervised probation. As special conditions of probation, Bost must participate in mental health counseling and must stay out of national parks in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia for the next five years, except when driving on commuter roads or traveling by metro. Between June 15, 2006, and August 9, 2006, Bost repeatedly vandalized a construction site located along Memorial Avenue near Arlington Cemetery by writing pro-Nazi, anti-semitic terms. Also, on or about December 2, 2006, Bost vandalized a portable toilet station at the Iwo Jima Memorial in the same manner. After an investigation, United States Park Police detective Kevin Fornshill identified Bost as the vandal responsible for these incidents, with assistance from Arlington PD. The successful investigation and prosecution of Bost has closed at least a dozen USPP investigations of vandalism on National Park Service property in the District of Columbia and in Arlington, Virginia.
