On October 8th, eighteen National Capital Region participants from NCR parks, the National Capital Regional Office and the Washington Office got a head start on the upcoming integration of interpretive media into the asset management database, the Facility Management Software System (FMSS).
The workshop, entitled âSo You Want Your Interpretive Media Project Funded, Do You?â, introduced participants to asset management, provided guidance on key terms used in FMSS, and previewed the changeover to the newest version of FMSS. The workshop also included a practical exercise using the draft specification templates for interpretive media.
This workshop is a first step for NCR interpretive managers to be poised and ready to jump on the FMSS bandwagon when interpretive media joins the parade. Instructors included Jim Warfield, facility operations specialist, NCR; Jeff Young, electrical engineer, NCR; and Laura Illige, education specialist/public affairs specialist, NCR. Corky Mayo of WASO sat in on the course and provided updates on the progress of the national FMSS and interpretive media work group and the changes resulting from the experience of the parks testing this addition to the FMSS database.
