In June, 2007, rangers were contacted regarding a concession employee â Hao Sun, a Chinese national in the U.S. on a work visa â who was suspected of having child pornography on his computer. Sunâs roommate had come upon disturbing images while borrowing Sunâs computer and had called rangers. An investigation was undertaken and a search warrant obtained. The computer was shipped to SA Beth Shott in Denver for forensic analysis, and she found over 800 indecent images of children on it. Sun was subsequently indicted and arrested. On September 28th, following a week-long trail, Sun was found guilty of possession of child pornography (18 USC 2252A (a)(5)(a)). The case involved depositions from individuals in China, forensics which required translation of Chinese characters, and employment of translators in both the U.S. and China. The prosecuting attorney said that Shottâs analysis and her testimony during the trial were crucial to the conviction.
