Featured as one of the seven Wonders of America, ABC News’ Good Morning America opened its morning show on Friday, May 9 from the Pinnacles Overlook at Badlands National Park. Highlighted as the fourth Wonder, morning viewers were treated with views of the park’s incredibly rugged buttes, spires, and scenic vistas, as Good Morning America correspondent, Kate Snow, described the unique landscape as a “moonscape.”
Prior to featuring Badlands National Park, Good Morning America visited Washington, D.C.’s National Mall, Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and Arizona’s Grand Canyon. Kate Snow interviewed park staff to learn of the park’s unique fossil resources, significant animal reintroductions, and local Lakota culture.
Three additional Wonders will be revealed during the week of May 11. Badlands was privileged to have been selected for the Good Morning America feature, an opportunity to share the wonders of the area that park staff and locals already appreciate. Advance preparation for Friday’s shoot, which included selecting filming locations and providing topic material, involved long hours and the participation and support of employees from multiple divisions.
