Park Reopens As Winds Blow Sulfur Dioxide Away

Trade winds returned to the area on Friday morning, blowing the sulfur dioxide filled plume away from developed and visitor areas. Due to diminished gas levels, it was therefore possible to reopen the park. The park resumed normal operations at 1 p.m. that afternoon. It had been closed since last Thursday.
