Weekly Legislative Activities Report

The Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs puts out weekly reports on hearings, new legislation and other activities on the Hill. The following is the December 28th summary.

Note: The Senate will continue to meet in pro forma sessions. The House is in recess and will reconvene on January 3rd.

New Public Laws

On December 21st, President Bush signed into law H.J. Res. 72, which continues appropriations for FY 2008 through December 31st.  It is Public Law 110-149.

On December 26th, the President signed into law H.R. 2764.  No public law number has been assigned at the writing of this report. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008 contains the following sections:

• Division A – Agriculture
• Division B – Commerce-Justice-Science
• Division C – Energy-Water
• Division D – Financial Services
• Division E – Homeland Security
• Division F – Interior
• Division G – Labor-HHS-Education
• Division H – Legislative Branch
• Division I – Military-Veterans
• Division J – State-Foreign Operations
• Division K – Transportation-HUD
• Division L – Supplemental Appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008.
