On Wednesday, April 18th, park staff celebrated the life of Marina Giggleman along with more than 250 family members and friends. The ceremony was held at the request of the Giggleman family.
The celebration began with a presentation of the colors by the National Park Service honor guard, followed by remarks by Intermountain regional director Mike Snyder, Dr. Donna Shaver, and US Fish and Wildlife supervisor Allan Strand.
The regional director presented the family with the United States flag, acting superintendent Betty Frantum presented Marinaâs badge and nametag, chief ranger Randy Larson presented Marinaâs flat hat, and Yellowstone deputy superintendent (formerly Padre Island deputy superintendent) Colin Campbell presented commemorative photographs.
Presentations were followed by honors from the United States Coast Guard via a hovering helicopter tribute at the Malaquite Beach visitor center.
Family, friends and park staff reflected on Marinaâs life and shared fond memories. The celebration concluded with a rendition of âAmazing Grace,â beautifully led by Alisha Strand.
