On Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the request of the Giggleman Family, Padre Island National Seashore celebrated the life of Marina Giggleman with more than 250 family and friends.
The celebration began with a presentation of colors by the National Park Service Honor Guard followed by remarks from Intermountain Regional Director Mike Snyder, Dr. Donna Shaver, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Field Supervisor, Allan Strand.
Director Mike Snyder presented the family with the United States Flag, Acting Superintendent Betty Frantum presented Marina’s badge and nametag, Chief Ranger Randy Larson presented Marina’s Flat hat, and Deputy Superintendent of Yellowstone and Former Superintendent of Padre Island Colin Campbell presented commemorative photographs.
Presentations were followed by Honors from the United States Coast Guard with a hovering helicopter tribute at the Malaquite Beach Visitor Center.
Family, Friends, and park staff reflected on the life of Marina and shared fond memories. The celebration concluded with “Amazing Grace” beautifully led by Alisha Strand.
