U.S. Park Ranger Eric Reubin retired recently from Chickasaw National Recreation Area after 33 years of service. Reubin began his career in June 1974 in what was known as Arbuckle Recreation Area managed by Platt National Park. His appointment required that he be proficient in Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical, Wildland Fire Suppression, and Scuba Diving. “His strong knowledge of park operation has proved to be handy on more than one occasion over the last 30 plus years,” states Chief Ranger Dennis Weiland. Reubin advanced his career to become a Lead U.S. Park Ranger, Emergency Medical Technician, Senior Fire Fighter, and a Dive Master.
As Fee Manager, he managed the park’s six campgrounds, boat permit program, and Campground Reservation System. Reubin has been detailed to over two dozen units of the Nation Park Service, responded to emergencies, and assisted with park operations. He has been detailed to the agency’s national office to assist with the development of fee management policy. Reubin is well respected throughout the service for his experience with the National Park Service’s Scuba Diving and Fee Management Programs. “Eric has been wealth of information to the dozens of career rangers that have passed through the gates of Platt National Park, now known as Chickasaw National Recreation Area,” says Supervisory U.S Park Ranger Mike Manning.
Chickasaw National Recreation Area’s new Superintendent Bruce Noble welcomes the community to say farewell to U.S. Park Ranger Reubin at an afternoon open house scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Travertine Nature Center beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Cards and notes can be sent to 308 East Vinita, Sulphur, OK 73086.
