The 2007 Southeast Region Leadership Conference was held this week in Asheville, NC. The conference included site visits to area national parks, including Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock, NC. This is the first time a National Park Service director has visited the park since its designation in 1968. Director Mary Bomar was accompanied by Southeast Regional Director Pat Hooks, senior staff from the Southeast Region and superintendents from parks across the region.
