Radio Tower Removed from Barataria Preserve

Crews removed the 260 foot Exxon Mobil radio tower and appurtenant structures from the 7 acre site within the park’s Barataria Preserve. The tower had been at the site since 1946 when it was leased privately. The lease finally expired in late 2006. The land will eventually revert to its native wetlands and marsh.
