The Eugene O’Neill Foundation/Tao House, the park’s cooperating partner, was honored with a special producer’s award at the 28th annual Shellie Awards in Walnut Creek, California on January 13th.
Patterned after the Tony Awards, the Shellie Awards honor outstanding achievements in the performing arts for performers, directors, designers, and choreographers from thirteen regional theatre companies in Contra Costa County.
The foundation was recognized for its efforts to help preserve Eugene O’Neill’s home (Tao House) and, in partnership with the National Park Service, promote the legacy of Eugene O’Neill, America’s only Nobel Prize winning playwright.
It is only the fourth special producer’s award that has been given in the 28 year history of Shellie Awards. On hand to receive the award were foundation president Gary Schaub and park superintendent Martha Lee.
