The Shekell fire, which is burning between the cities of Moorpark and Fillmore in Ventura County, California, has consumed approximately 10,000 acres since it began on Sunday morning. Santa Ana winds continue to blow and relative humidity levels are extremely low, down to single digits in many locations. The fire is approximately 10 miles away from the boundary of the Santa Monica Mountains NRA and does not pose a threat to the park. There are five SAMO families that live in the vicinity of the fire; last reports indicate no damage to any of their homes.
