BIG THICKET NATIONAL PRESERVE SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCES TRAPPING PERMIT REGISTRATION
Big Thicket National Preserve Superintendent Todd Brindle announced today that applications for a total of 21 permits for the 2006-2007 State of Texas trapping season will be available beginning October 16 through October 20, 2006. Trappers must apply in person for a permit at the Preserve Visitor Center between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Visitor Center is located 7 ½ miles north of Kountze at the Intersection of FM 420 and Highway 69. A valid driver's license or some other official identification will be required of all trappers. Mail or telephone requests will not be accepted. Four permits are available for the Beaumont Unit, seven for the Jack Gore Baygall Unit, seven for the Lance Rosier Unit, and three for the Neches Bottom Unit. Trappers may make application to trap in more than one unit; however, a permit may not be received for all units requested. Permits will be selected by random drawing.
