On Monday evening, August 28, 2006, at 6 p.m. at Redding City Hall’s Community Room, a public meeting will be held to discuss plans to install new concrete docks in Whiskeytown Lake’s Oak Bottom Marina and Brandy Creek Marina’s moorage.
Anyone interested in boating on Whiskeytown Lake is invited, especially those people who moor boats on Whiskeytown Lake through the concession contract with Oak Bottom Marina Company.
The National Park Service announced today that in its efforts to develop a new concession contract that it will install new government owned dock facilities that the new concession contract will allow the concessionaire to rent for annual and seasonal dock space to the public. It is the intention of the National Park Service to remove all the existing docks from Oak Bottom and Brandy Creek Marina and replace them with concrete docks.
In order to facilitate this effort, all boats moored in Oak Bottom Marina will have to be removed from Whiskeytown Lake by January 1, 2007. The new concrete docks will be installed in the lake in April 2007, and the new concession contract will rent the docks to the boating public. Sailboats and motorboats will be allowed to rent moorage space from the new concession contract operator. In 2008, all vessels in Brandy Creek Marina need to be pulled from the lake by January 1, 2008 and await the installation of the new docks in April 2008.
Any vessels left in Oak Bottom Marina after January 1, 2007, will be impounded by the National Park Service. A temporary dry storage for vessels may be permitted in the Brandy Creek Marina Parking lot throughout this transition period.
