Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park and the Town of Williamsport will host Williamsport Days at the Cushwa Basin and Byron Memorial Park on Saturday, August 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A celebration through programs, music, and events will help commemorate Williamsport’s heritage, the C&O Canal, and the 90th anniversary for the founding of the National Park Service on August 25, 1916.
Festival highlights include two performances by the Wildcat Regiment Band, playing 19th century military music; canal era music; guided walks; slide shows; lock demonstrations; meet the C&O Canal mule; as well as demonstrations by living history groups representing the French & Indian War, Revolutionary War, Civil War, and women’s history. The Town of Williamsport will be hosting a craft fair, food, music, raffles and an antique car show at Byron Memorial Park. For a minimal fee, trolley service will be available for visitors to travel back and forth between the Cushwa Basin and Byron Memorial Park.
