Oklahoma is often thought of as a “plains state”, but really is a mixture of several types of ecoregions. This Saturday, August 5, 2006, a special program about snakes and reptiles of the park area and south-central Oklahoma will be presented at the Travertine Nature Center, Chickasaw NRA. Naturalist John Preston, Davis, Oklahoma will present three programs on Saturday, August 5th, at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Mr. Preston has worked with museums, nature centers and as an environmental educator for over 45 years. Currently he is a writer and consultant for Camp Classen and Camp Goddard. Mr. Preston’s program will emphasize the natural history of native snake species of the area including the ecology and the biological diversity of these and other animals found in the park and surrounding area.
