"Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the park by participating in a ranger-led program.” says Superintendent Jerry Eubanks. Walks and talks are offered at the Gulf Islands National Seashore Visitor Center in Ocean Springs. All programs are free and open to the public.
Learn about animals that glow during the Reading Ranger: Living Lights program. Young children can enjoy listening to a story about fireflies and will make a fun craft to take home with them. Meet at the Gulf Islands National Seashore Visitor Center on Saturday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. for this hour-long program
What is the bayou like after the sun goes down? Join a park ranger for the Wild Night Life program on Saturday, August 12th and learn how animals use their senses of sight, smell, hearing and touch in the nighttime world of the bayou. Meet at Pavilion #1 at 8:00 p.m. for this one-hour program.
On Saturday, August 19th visitors will have a chance to learn the traditional art of throwing a cast net on the Cast For Your Catch program. Program is limited to 20 participants. Sign up starts August 5th. Participants should wear clothing they don’t mind getting wet and/or muddy. Visitors should meet at the Gulf Islands National Seashore Visitor Center at 10:00 a.m.
Where and how did Native Americans find food on the southern coast? Join a ranger on Saturday, August 26th for the Your Guide to Eating Out program. Discover plants and animals that were important for survival in Davis Bayou. Program meets at the Gulf Islands National Seashore Visitor Center at 10:00 a.m.
