Formal presentations will be held on the hour each day beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at 3:00 p.m. Presenters include Gary Anderson presenting, “Lewis and Clark Among the Indians,” Chris Floyd portraying George Drouillard, Dakota Goodhouse presenting, “Horses of Mass Destruction,” August Little Soldier presenting “Three Affiliated Tribes History,” Tim McLaughlin presenting, “Center of International Trade,” Linda Olson presenting, “Rock Art Research,” Dick Parrish presenting, “Blacksmithing and the Native Americans,” and Matt Schanandore playing Mandan flute music.

There will be a children’s activity on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each child can make their own parfleche storage container. They can also try their hand at traditional Hidatsa and Mandan games from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation, the park’s Friends Group, will be selling buffalo sandwiches, hot dogs, fry bread, corn and cold drinks.

A special exhibit will be on display July 29-August 31. The exhibit is composed of items from the Robinson Collection. The Robinsons came to the Dakotas in 1883. They opened a mercantile store in Coleharbor and often traded for and exchanged many gifts with some of the Indians in the area. The Robinson Collection contains a unique look into early reservation era arts and handicraft. This exhibit will allow visitors a rare look at some of the pieces of this exceptional donation to the park.
