All 390 units of the National Park System will shift to an enhanced, updated web site that “will be more user friendly”, according to CNRA Superintendent Connie Rudd.
“Each park units is updating its current information and links in anticipation of the launch date in late August,” says Rudd. “It is no easy task to coordinate this change from Guam to Maine and from Alaska to the Gulf Stream Islands,” she says.
The enhanced web sites for all parks will have a new look and include links not presently available. “We are most excited about a full function search capability. Visitors to the web will be able to type in key words and, if all works as planned, should be directed immediately to the topic, thus ending long searches,” Rudd explains.
New material is being added each week to the current web site for Chickasaw National Recreation Area. General categories that will be available with the new site will include topics and details for Nature and Science, Natural Features and Ecosystems, a section for Teachers to plan field trips and obtain curriculum materials, a Just for Kids section with direct links to Web Rangers, News, Management Policies, Park Statistics, Jobs, Fire Management, Volunteer opportunities, and Frequently Asked Questions.
“We expect the site to be dynamic, responding to the interests and needs of our visiting public”, Rudd says. “While we prepare to the launch late this summer, we invite people to visit the current site and suggest topics or links that would be useful to include in the new site.
