Big Cypress National Preserve Superintendent Karen Gustin announced today that the airboat trails within Zone 4 of the preserve will re-open effective Saturday, July 15. This closure has been lifted since water levels have risen within this area of the preserve to allow for safe travel along the trails. The area was closed as of April 3, 2005.
Other areas of the preserve remain closed to wheeled off-road vehicle (ORV) recreational access for the annual 60-day seasonal closure. This closure will be lifted effective August 11,2005.
If you have any questions about ORV access, or other recreational opportunities within Big Cypress National Preserve, contact the Oasis Visitor Center at 239-695-1201.
