Discover the hardships and rewards of the sailors who fought for survival during the treacherous Cape Horn passage! San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park offers daily guided tours of the historic sailing ship Balclutha. Learn how sailors adapted to harsh conditions: dangerous storms, poor food and little pay. The program is presented at 2:15pm daily, throughout 2006.
After the guided tour, descend below deck to experience the sights and sounds of “Cargo Is King,” a new exhibit-in-progress that tells how Balclutha contributed to the social and economic development of the Bay Area, California, and the world.
These programs are included in the cost to board the historic ships at Hyde Street Pier (adults: $5, children under 16: free!) Admission to the park visitor center and to the Hyde Street Pier is free.
San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is located at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, in San Francisco.
