(FLAT ROCK, NC)—Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site announces the opportunity for the public to review plans for a new permanent public restroom facility at the historic site which will be replacing the existing trailer-type structure. Park officials will be available to discuss the plans and answer questions at two open-houses that will be held on Thursday, July 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site Park Headquarters. The Park Headquarters is accessed from Carl Sandburg Lane which is located approximately one-half mile west of the Sandburg visitor parking lot on Little River Road in Flat Rock, NC.
During the site’s recently completed General Management Planning process, the existing trailer-type facility was determined to be inadequate to serve the needs of park visitors. An appropriately designed new facility was proposed for the same location.
Anticipated construction for the replacement public restroom facility would begin this fall. For additional information or detailed directions to the open house location, call the Carl Sandburg Home NHS at 828-693-4178.
