Four Hot Springs National Park protection rangers recently underwent 40 hours of training, certifying them as Police Bike Patrol Officers. The training was provided by International Police Mountain Bike Association Instructors with the Fort Smith (AR) Police Department. The intensive training involved all aspects of bike patrol operations, patrol, and bike maintenance.
“Effective immediately, we will be conducting intermittent bike patrols on Bathhouse Row and Hot Springs and West Mountains,” stated park Chief Ranger Dennis Stock. “The patrols will allow rangers closer contact with visitors and also reduce fuel costs.”
