Catoctin Mountain Park Announces National Parks Across America Day – June 17th

Catoctin Mountain Park and park partners, Wal-Mart and the Unilever Corporation, are teaming together to present a National Parks Across America event at Catoctin Mountain Park on Saturday, June 17. This event salutes the volunteers whose contributions assure the degree of excellence for the nation’s National Parks. It is a tribute to current volunteers and an introductory opportunity for new volunteers to explore the myriad of possibilities in Catoctin Mountain Park.

The event begins with registration and a continental breakfast at Camp Round Meadow from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. Volunteer activities will begin at the conclusion of the opening ceremony led by Superintendent Mel Poole. Volunteer projects include: trash pickup, trail work and clean-up, and staining wooden guardrails. Activities conclude with the “Great American Picnic” at 12:30 p.m.

Each participating volunteer will receive an event t-shirt in addition to breakfast, lunch and the exhilaration that comes from helping others. Potential volunteers are asked to call the Visitor Center at (301) 663-9388 for further information and to register for the event. Groups and individuals are invited.
