On Tuesday, May 23rd, the park hosted its annual Living American Flag Day. About 4,000 school children attended the event.
The event focuses on recreating the 1914 celebration of the Battle of Baltimore, which was a key turning point in the War of 1812. The 1914 celebration took place on the “Grand Centennial” of that battle and the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner. At that time, hundreds of school children formed a “living flag” in commemoration of the event.
The park’s Area Services Division safely parked over 70 buses on the fort’s grounds. There were no accidents or incidents.
