Sagamore Hill Announces Seven Day Operation Beginning Memorial Day, May 29; Nature Walks Commence Sunday, May 28
Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th US President, will adopt its usual summer schedule of seven day operation beginning Monday, May 29st and concluding Labor Day, September 4th. The public offerings include:
The grounds of Sagamore Hill are open to the public year round from dawn to dusk without charge.
Tours of the Theodore Roosevelt Home are offered on the hour from 10 to 4 at a cost of $5 for adults; those 15 and under are free. Tickets are sold on a first-come-first-served basis for each day beginning at 9 AM. Each tour is limited to fourteen persons and advance reservations are not taken. Weekends and holiday weekends are usually very busy so if you are coming at one of these times plan to visit in the morning since we often sell all available tickets for the house tours by the early afternoon.
The Visitor Center and Gift Shop are open from 9 to 4:50 where one may purchase tour tickets, National Park Passes and retail items. Adjacent to the Visitor Center are the public restrooms and picnic area (please note that no cooking or fires are permitted and there is no food service on the grounds of the park).
The Theodore Roosevelt Museum in Old Orchard is open from 10 to 4 and there is no charge to see it. The exhibits tell the story of TR’s early and public life.
Nature Walks resume on Sunday May 28 at 9:30 AM. Meet a Park Ranger at the picnic area and trace the path of TR and his family as you learn about the various flora and fauna of our Nature Trail. There is no charge for these walks and advance reservations are not needed. The Nature Walks continue each Sunday through the summer.
Please check out the website at www.nps.gov/sahi for more detailed information; or call the park at 516-922-4788.
