Whiskeytown NRA Seeks Summer Kayak Program Volunteers

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area

National Park News

Volunteer Kayak Assistants are still needed to work with park rangers providing summer kayak programs for the public. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and help others safely enjoy the lake. Kayak Assistants do not need to have prior kayaking experience or their own equipment, although they must know how to swim, and be in good physical condition. Certification in Basic First Aid and CPR is a plus but not a requirement. At a minimum, assistants must commit to at least 3 hours per week to assist with the kayak program, and assist with taking kayak reservations. Assistants will be trained in water safety and flat-water kayaking skills. Training for this position will be offered on Saturday June 10 from 9am to 1pm at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater.

If you would like to join us this summer, please contact Clinton Kane at (530) 242-3451 or the park Volunteer Manager at (530) 242-3421. Applications may also be obtained at Whiskeytown Visitor Center. To learn more about Whiskeytown check the park website at www.nps.gov/whis.
