Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is sponsoring a Memorial Day program to commemorate the services of America's soldiers—especially veterans from the Civil War. This annual event is scheduled for Monday, May 29, at 12:00 noon, at the Fort Harrison National Cemetery, on the Fort Harrison battlefield. The cemetery is located on the Varina Road, two miles south of Route 5 and eight miles south of Richmond.
This year's speaker is Buzz Snyder, Colonel U. S. Army (ret.). Snyder's 28-year career in the armed forces included a stint as commandant of cadets at the Virginia Military Institute. He also taught military science and tactics there. Colonel Snyder lives in Varina.
