Big Cypress National Preserve is seeking input on expanding the scope of its General Management Plan (GMP) for the Addition Lands. Public open house workshops will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the following locations:
- Everglades City — May 23, 2006, Everglades City School, 415 School Drive
- Naples — May 24, 2006, Edison College, 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway
- Fort Lauderdale — May 25, 2006, University of Florida/IFAS, Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, 3205 College Avenue
As a result of recent public input and legal requirements, the scope of the GMP will be expanded to include a wilderness study and an off-road vehicle (ORV) management plan. A downloadable newsletter and the text of an April 25, 2006, Federal Register notice, both providing additional details on the scope expansion, are available at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/documentsOpenForReview.cfm?projectId=11164, by clicking on either Newsletter 4, May 2006, or the Federal Register notice E6-6151. Mailed copies are available by calling 239-695-1158.
The public workshops will provide opportunities to speak one-on-one with Preserve staff and planners. Comments can be submitted on-line at the above website, emailed to bicy_gmp_planning@nps.gov, or mailed to National Park Service, Denver Service Center, Big Cypress Planning Team, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, P.O.
