Homestead National Monument of America

National Park News

The May 6 Saturday evening reception for the Heartland Experience national literary event will begin at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The National Endowment for the Arts and Homestead National Monument of America are pleased to provide an intimate setting at the park on May 6 to allow visitors to enjoy interacting with U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, authors Ivan Doig and Percival Everett, Willa Cather scholars Steve Shively and Charles Peek and other presenters. "This is a unique opportunity to participate in an evening of lively discussions and outstanding poetry" said Mark Engler, superintendent of Homestead NM of America. "We hope people will come out and experience a once in a lifetime event with the U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser and the outstanding authors we've invited to be a part of this national literary event" Engler continued. The Heartland Experience is May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. all day with activities for both children and adults. The evening reception will conclude the event and will provide an opportunity for visitors to meet the authors and have books signed.
