Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site Superintendent Keith Newlin announces construction on the park?s visitor center parking area. Construction will be on going throughout much of the summer months. Newlin states ?there should be only a slight inconvenience to the public depending upon construction at any given time. However, all possible accommodations are being made to make any inconveniences as minor as we can.? Newlin goes on to say ? the improvements to the parking area and sidewalks will provide for much easier access for all visitors to the center and make for a more enjoyable visit.?
Newlin also says, ?this project will not prevent the park from scheduling the traditional ?Evening on the Summit Programs? for this summer. However, the park will not be able to schedule some musical groups that draw a larger audience because of limited parking spaces.?
