Are you a museum buff? Are you well trained and skilled in museum procedures and techniques? Cabrillo National Monument is currently accepting applications for a temporary GS-5 Museum Technician position. The incumbent will assist with maintaining the park?s collection of historic objects, natural specimens, archives, and slide collections; assist with cataloguing and accessioning and deaccessioning objects; maintain museum inventory databases and prepare reports; inspect and conserve artifacts; monitor environmental conditions of collections storage and exhibits; and will assist with moving the park?s collection into a new museum storage building.
The ideal candidate will possess experience related to the management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects. This temporary position is expected to last approximately 6 months. Applications must be postmarked by May 16, 2006 in order to be considered.
